The LJ writer's block prompt is "What are you afraid of". That question seems to come up a lot...and my answer has always been "Why should I tell you? If nobody knows, then they can't help make them come true". I'm talking about strangers here...I know I've discussed fears with many of you. But then, I trust y'all to not use the things that scare me to hurt me.

But, I'm wondering, is that a normal reaction? Do most people go "Oh, this is what I'm scared of"?

Now *that's* kind of scary...I have no idea what a normal reaction is. My inclination is to say "If it's your reaction, then it's normal for you and there isn't a thing wrong with that" but, I'm really wondering.

Sam has been having fun with her laptop, and generously sharing it with her parents, as we have found a maaaagical wireless connection in the living room, and there's naught but dial-up in the sunroom (though, if the fates smile on us, that will actually change sometime today, as the electricians came on Friday to install the jack and the cable people are supposed to be coming today to work their magic. I'm just flat out not counting on it. Hoping, but not counting). She's used my computer off and on, but mainly to play games that heavily involve the mouse.

Now I'm teaching her to do all the stuff I pretty much take for granted, like double-clicking, cutting & pasting and that sort of thing. And it reminded me of when I taught my Nan all that stuff.

It was great, 'cause she was a very smart woman and in her forties when I was born, so there wasn't much I got to teach her. She was also kind of convinced that if she clicked the wrong thing, she'd erase not only her hard drive but the entire internet. Which would have been *very* impressive. She either got over the fear or figured that if she broke it, she broke it, 'cause by the time I left for the East Coast in '99, she was pretty comfortable with e-mail and had even talked with Jeff on AIM at least once, though my memory says twice.

Oh! We saw the first tv commercial for Stardust a few days ago, and all I can say is "I *will* see this one in the theatre". Yeah, I know, I said that about Mirrormask too, but you know...this time will be different...for some reason.

Dear Flixster Movie Quiz question creator person,

Mr. Tumnis is a faun not a fawn.

You know how The Grinch had a terrible, horrible, wonderful idea?

That's pretty much how I feel about the Lullabyed NIN cd. Oh, it will be mine. No doubt there. I'm actually getting it from yourmusic.com, but I don't know if the links go weird if one isn't logged in.

Holy schmuckles, as my mom says (not that I actually know how to spell that...it's not something I often write down). We have broadband. Of our own. And, as far as I know, the earth didn't explode. Or if it did, it happened while I was asleep and y'all got everything cleaned up very nicely. *Grin*
