We've recently started Charlie on solids. And *wow* has she taken to it. She's been very interested in what's going on when we're eating and seemed to be wondering where her plate was. We started her on rice cereal with a bit of milk and some applesauce mixed in. She liked it, but liked the applesauce by itself *Far* better. The best thing so far has been bananas. She ate nearly half a jar in one sitting, which is *huge* for a kid her size.
I picked up a few things of baby food at the market, but have a food mill and wanted to make my own. So, I bought some sweet potatoes and made 'em into mush. I'd found these little ice cube trays (about a third of the size of a regular cube) at Goodwill a while ago and figured they'd be perfect for freezing baby food in portions. I planned to pop the cubes out, put 'em in marked baggies and use a bit of warm milk to bring everything up to room temp.
The only problem is, I haven't been able to get the cubes out of the tray. Bit frustrating, that. Sure, I could let it defrost and use one of Charlie's spoons to get the stuff out, but that would ruin the whole portion thing. If I have time tomorrow, I'm going to whack the tray on the counter a few times, to see if that'll loosen things up. If they never come out, I'll have to think of another way to store the purrees. Who knew baby food was so complicated?

I *loved* last night's episode of CSI. ( And I have to say )

I'm trying to post more...we'll see how that works out. :) I'm also trying to respond more...so far that tends to be more "responding in my head while holding Charlie and meaning to actually write things when I get the chance".
