(no subject)

I don't have many traditions but, before we can sit down to the table for the big ol' turkey feast, we have to listen to Arlo Guthrie sing Alice's Restaurant.

I haven't heard that song in /years/.

Traditions spring from the minds of their creators!

A fine tradition to create and pass along ~ play it again after dinner so people can happy-dance and joggle down the food, thereby making room for DESSERT after a walk around the block/yard/dining table!

Hugs and all that rot....

You can get anything you want
at Alice's Restaurant....

Excepting Alice.

Ahhh. Haven't heard the original in a loooong time. (I have a different live version, but it's not as good as this one.) Thanks!

Oh hell yes! I always think of that song when I'm in Tonopah, AZ. There is an Alice's Restaurant (truck stop kind of place) there.

I love both Arlo and his father Woody. Woody's "This land is your land" would be another good one for a day like today.

I can't believe I had actually never heard that song until today. A guest dj on my local community radio station played it, and I loved it.

A good tradition.

Yes. It is right and good to listen to Alice's Restaurant on this day of thanks.
