We saw Wall-E on Saturday. I cannot praise it enough. It was wonderful from beginning to end. I'm so glad I got to see it on The Big Screen. I'll be thrilled with the dvd, but there are moments that need to be as big as a wall.

I didn't see any anti-fatness to the storyline (this would not be something I'd be able to overlook, either). What I saw was what would happen to people who gave themselves over completely to a corporation and let it run their lives. In this case, the corporation gave everything completely over to the robots, who were instructed to keep everything the same, period. The people were encouraged to relax and do pretty much nothing. And so were their children, and *their* children and so on. Add on to that living in less gravity than earth and yeah, they'd be fat. That was the result, not the problem. That was mentioned in passing (the lighter gravity and possible effect, not the rest), though it was almost a blink and you miss it moment.

I'm so glad to have [livejournal.com profile] darthgeek home. After this month and a half of moving and him being in Kansas for Gramps' funeral and then, right at the end, him being in Rhode Island for three days, it feels like we've been apart for weeks. And I gotta tellya, neither of us likes it.

But, we're very shmoopy and together now. It's plain marvelous. I try not to go on about all the shmoopyness, 'cause I'd hate to have to start providing barf bags with my entries, but I think I'm within the recommended daily allowance.;)

Sammy has this habit of telling one of us something, when the other one is around but not in the same room, and then seeking out the other parent and repeating what she just said. She just doesn't believe that we can hear her when she can't see us. She is a wonderfully silly being.

Oh *wow*, Steampunk birds.

I had this rice cooker/steamer that stopped working. I got a dedicated rice cooker and it was just sucky. I need a good, basic rice cooker, something that will last and *won't* cost a million dollars. Any recommendations?

*long suffering sigh* CSI isn't coming back till October 9.
