One of the games I'm currently obsessed with has a lot of mazes in it. And I've found that if I'm in a situation where I can go up or down, I pick down (I don't know why...probably for the same reason I pick left first in mazes). And every time, I hear the Helping Hands from Labyrinth. "She picked doooo-own. She picked down?!"

My fan arrived today, and it was *exactly* what I wanted. It doesn't take up too much room, it has three speeds and it oscillates. It also looks like it could have been on Sam Spade's desk. Which is a definite mark in the plus column.
The odd thing is, I ordered it on the twentieth, and the price on the page is *not* the price I paid. I paid twenty-five dollars for it and as it was an Amazon item, I got free shipping...it's being offered by someone else now and is five dollars more. I knew things moved around, but it was five days ago!
Some days, it's hard to convince myself I'm not living in a Philip K. Dick story...but, at least someone remembered to turn the sun on today. The sky was blue, there were clouds, it was *nice*. So, if I *am* living in a story, at least the weather's good.

Sammy's learning to tell time on an analog clock...she's cranky 'cause she's sure she already knows how to tell time. I told her that reading the numbers off a digital clock isn't telling time, it's having time told to you. But I don't think she really got that. She's doing very well with whole and half hours. Tomorrow, we move on to quarter hours. (dun-dun-dunnnnn)
She asked me why she needed to know how to tell time at all. I will admit that I was stunned for a moment. I had *no* idea how to answer that. It was kind of like asking why do we have to breathe...except I *know* that answer. *grin* I told her that if she didn't know how to tell time, she'd never know when anything *was*. We had a short discussion about it and while she still thinks digital is better, she stopped whining.:)

I'm so adamant about this 'cause when I was a kid, I had something of a block when it came to math. I was in my twenties before it really clicked for me.
Clocks fell into the math category for me. And when my paternal grandfather gave me a digital watch for Yulemas when I was nine or ten, I went with it. Though, I was disappointed to find the light on the watch wasn't bright enough to read by. (Yes, that is a true story. :) This was 1979/80, when it seemed just about everything was starting to come with a digital clock in it. So, I didn't really need to learn to tell time...so I didn't. And to this *day* I have problems wrt analog clocks. Which is why I insist on wearing an analog watch (when I remember to wear a watch at all) and why the clock in the living room is analog as well.
Okay, that and I really like the way they look. But the first is the most important part.

Samantha has decided that, since her second tooth is nearly ready to fall out, she's going to wait on the tooth fairy till it does. Which is good, 'cause the thing I bought to celebrate the first tooth should be here by then.:)

We've past the first year here...resigned the lease and everything. It's just so damn cool. I love this place.
