Sammy was upstairs when the wind blew a door shut and she was *terrified*, came down screaming and crying, took a while to comfort her. She's doing better now, but still not thrilled. I went up to shut all the windows and get her a shirt (she was tired of her dress, which was why she there in the first place) and then we looked out the door for a while...it's raining *HARD* and she said "Dat is a lot and lot of rain!"...but the first thing she said was "PUDDLES!!!". Kid's got her priorities straight.

We got our package today (nice bright moment in an otherwise "challenging" day. ;)
Thank you! Everything is beautiful and we are particularly impressed with Sammy's Bee!

I'm sorry Sammy got startled that way. Kids her age are often not wild about sudden or unexpected noises. When the Divine Miss L was about that size she decided that thunder and lightening meant it was time to wail and quake and try to hide under me. Given the rumbly wet nature of spring here, that was very trying for both of us.
I ended up buying a couple of packages of those little flash paper snapper bombs you throw at the side walk. We would put on our stompiest shoes, set the snappers carefully in a line on the concrete and then spend a while happily stomping them and making them go flash/bang! It worked to get her over the big noise bad fear, but she was exposed to a bad influence in her youth (i.e, me).

Scary noises
We used to chant loudly "CRASH BOOM RUMBLE RUMBLE" and even yell back at the thunder at times! Making our own _loud noises_ became more interesting than waiting for the next Sky-crash! Yay Sammy and Mom....
