A post on my friends page reminded me.
Apr. 22nd, 2003 03:24 amWhen Sam was roughly ten months old, she got a horrid fever from teething...it was probably two am, and she was laid out on the bed, wearing only a diaper, completely covered in cool damp washcloths. I was checking her temp every five minutes, swearing that if it didn't start going down by dawn, we'd take her to the emergency room. Jeff fell asleep next to her, and then it was just Sam and me, staring at one another, her wondering what was going on, and me hoping beyond hope that this was just teething, that not going to the ER right then and there wouldn't damage her, that the fucking washcloths would work already. The world shrunk to two beings, and didn't feel like it was normal till the next morning.
It took roughly an hour and a half longer, but her temperature evenutally went down and we slept. I woke up every twenty minutes or so, to check her temp and make sure she was okay.
