Jul. 21st, 2003 09:52 pmWe had a *very* productive and relaxing weekend. Finally managed to get to the Farmer's Market and picked up some cherries that were so juicy they made Sam look like a tiny vampire. *grin* Also got some fresh out'the ground garlic, a bunch of chard, onions, wonderful tomatoes, zucchini (that are *so* much lovelier than any I'd seen before), several bunches of herbs (I know we got spearmint and sage, but I can't remember if I picked up the parsley and rosemary or not.), tiny sweet plums, black raspberries, a bunch of yarrow (not so much for the cooking. *grin*) and several other things that have slipped my mind completely.
We finally took Sam to the playground in the park, and it was better than I'd hoped. The playground is *Huge*, with three play structures (that have slides, climbing things and so on), six swings (two baby/toddler, which is what we put Sam in after she *Jumped* off the swing while I was pushing her. She didn't get hurt...I nearly had heart failure though. It'd be different if she was older, but I had to lift her *on* to the swing and it was going pretty well.), a see-saw and one of those zippy things that you hold onto and it...well...zips across.:) She had a *blast*. As did we. It was pretty hot, so Jeff and I tag-teamed it. There are benches all *over* the place, which was lovely. The place was designed by people who really thought about what'd be going on there.:) We've decided to try and make this a weekly thing...next time we're bringing food, water and plan to stay a while. (Though, we were there for about an hour this time.:) So, if there are any local people who'd like to come to the playground one Sunday, we'll be there.:) (Um...and let me know, so I can tell you *which* playground it is. *Grin*)
We managed to get to Trader Joe's and replenished my vitamins as well as picked up some meals for Jeff's lunches this week. (Something else we'd been planning to do for a while.:)
We also got some storage bins so we can finally turn the storage area into a pantry. (Only been planning *that* one since we moved in.:)
Other errands were run and plans were made for new errands and outings, but the most important thing was the three of us just being together and talking about stuff. We haven't really had that chance in a while.
Passed the Silver Theatre and saw a poster for an Astaire/Rogers film...can't find it on the site though...so, shall have to check back. They *are* showing Double Indemnity though, so I may just find myself back there one day soon.:)
I'm rather short tempered today, and Sam seems to be pushing all my buttons. I'm working *really* hard to maintain. If you hear of a nuclear explosion in the DC area, that'll be me. ;)
