I took the Musical Listening Test where they play you clips of music and you have to decide if they're the same or different. I impressed myself by correctly answering 28/30.

I was a smartie and held off starting till after Sam was in bed. I'm going to have her take it and see how she scores though.

The clips that were different seemed *very* obvious to me...I'm pretty sure I would have noticed even if I hadn't been primed to look for it.

Humidity in the summertime is not my friend. I love dry heat...because I grew up in humid heat (Northern Virginia) and loved being able to be active when it was more than just warm. Here, I'm not really happy outside in the summer until the late afternoon. And while I'm firmly living my life here and not mentally jumping to the future, the summers are something I'm surely looking forward to in our (years away) move to San Diego.

Sammy sculpted me a snail that looks like it came from the Simpsons. I love this snail. I took a pretty good picture of it (it's all white (except for the glitter glue on it's ears and shell, and the two dots on it's bulging eyes, so getting all the details in a photo is something of a challenge) and will post when I next empty the card onto the 'puter.

~~~
I have a big huge photo post to do soon. I currently feel too brain dead...but it will be happening in the near future.
I highly and wholeheartedly recommend the products from Althaea Soaps & Herbals which is run by the marvelous [livejournal.com profile] melanie. The soaps are wonderful, but I'm here today to talk about the lotion. I am downright *picky* about lotion, and the stuff I got in my latest shipment from Althaea is pretty much my favorite of all time. It isn't too runny, it sinks in beautifully and my ghods does it smell good. (I chose the Dragon's Blood scent, but I'm sure they all smell great.) It also lasts for a good long while and doesn't take forever to sink in, which is great, 'cause if I don't put my brace on before going back to the keyboard/mouse, my right arm gets downright grumpy.
*Update* I used the Black Tea soap in my shower last night and it was ah-may-zing. It smelled like that *really* good tea your mom got in a tin every year or so...it smelled exactly as tea should and made me want to stay in the shower, so I could remain in a cloud of tea scented steam. But, when I got out, I was pleased to find the scent stays on one's skin. Not in a "HI, HOW ARE YOU? I'M SOAP!" way but in a light, understated way. Utterly yummy.
Interesting. The NBA is going to start using a ball made of microfiber rather than leather. I wonder if it'll take the players a while to get used to it. Even if it really doesn't, I'll bet it'll be a *great* excuse for the first few games. *Grin*
Remember the disc of songs based on Neil Gaiman's works? The one that has tracks from both Voltaire and Tori Amos? It's coming out at the end of the month. Can I get a woo-hoo? *grin*
Dear shoe people,
My feet are sized eight and a half. Not nine and certainly not eight. Eights are too small and (surprise!) nines are too large. Yes, I can wear them, but if they're slip-ons, they rub in the back. I know, I can buy things to add to the shoes to (usually) make them comfortable, but it would be a hell of a lot easier if you'd just make shoes that'd *fit*.
Thank you *ever* so much.
Flip flops & clogs are exempt from this rantlet.
We bought a bag of Snickers Peanut Chews (the little tiny kind) last time we were at Costco. They're very good and I'm glad we have them, but why do they pretend this is something new? It's a Snickers bar without the nougat. That's not new, that's Charlie down at the plant forgetting a step.
Happy Fourth of July to them that celebrates it. Jeff's home today, so I'm going to go hang out with him and watch movies and stuff. I'll also carve out some time to continue reading and probably finish Prime. I read Liquor last week and really cannot wait for Soul Kitchen. Oooh! In checking the link, I realized it comes out at the end of the month. Rockage.:)
Love to you all.
