myschyf: (What *would* Joan Jett do?)
For the past week or so, I've been waking up coughing several times a night. Friday night, I woke up several times thinking "WOW! I'm not coughing!" Of course, that was ruined by hacking for ten minutes after I woke up. But at least my subconscious is doing what it can for the recovery effort. *Grin*

I'm actually all better except for the cough and the fact that my voice is fading in and out, as if my station isn't tuned correctly. But, I can talk for the most part and don't have to write *everything* down. Yay!

We weren't able to find the menu for the good Chinese restaurant (the one for the crap restaurant showed right up), but the upside is, now the section of my desk with the stamps, stickers, miscellaneous papers and such is nicely organized.

Woo-HOO! The new Thursday Next novel will be released on July 19. *happy book dance*

I made fifteen fabric menstrual pads on Saturday. It would have been sixteen, but the pieces of fabric came out unevenly, so the last one wouldn't have had enough padding. They're not exactly like the two test pads I made, but they seem very comfy and thick enough that I won't have to change them every five minutes. I'm pleased.

Next project is finishing the blanket I was making for Sam around Yule. You know, the one I had to hurry up and buy all the fabric for NOW? Well, when I was putting the fabric in the closet for my parents visit, the squares for the blanket got stuck in the back and I promptly forgot about them. So...it'll be a good birthday present. Yeah, that was the plan all along! ;)

Holy backfire, Batman! New York recently passed a bill that said some (but not *all*) restaurants (mostly fast-food type) would have to publish the calorie count of the food on the board next to the name and price.

It only applied to restaurants with fairly standardized menus that already made their nutritional information available to the public in some way

So, Wendy's is removing all the calorie info from their NYC resturants before the law goes into affect, because they say the boards don't have room for the additional info.

So this weird law is probably going to cause a reduction of information rather than the abundance of info they were hoping for. Oops.

[livejournal.com profile] darthgeek and I were talking last night and I said "I have two goals for tomorrow", and I'd get right on them. If I had any idea what they *were*. He's having a nap, and waking him up to ask seems rude. Maybe that whole "writing everything down" thing wasn't so bad...at least I had a record I could refer to.

Okay, the pill towel is bloody cool. They come in packs of sixteen. You pop one out, get it wet and it decompresses into an 11x9" towel. I'm sure it isn't the highest quality in the universe, but I can think of ten good uses for insta-towels off the top of my head. I'd keep them in my bag, the car, taped to the kid, that sort of thing.
