I can't do random patterns. Random thoughts, sure. Random references/quotes? Absolutely. But as soon as I have three whatevers, I can start to see a pattern, and no matter how hard I try, I can't make it random to my eyes.

I've learned this once and for all by painting polka dots on the little pink shelves for Sam's room. But, even if the pattern isn't random, it's rather nice. Though...they aren't really polka dots. They're polka blops. I had some trouble with the brush I'd found...but then Sam found a small cache of my brushes and there was one that worked *far* better. But, while the bits of color are mostly roundish, they're a bit more free-form than dots would imply.

And, to be completely honest about the whole thing, I wasn't listening to polka when I painted the first shelf and probably won't be listening to it when I paint the second. So, they're really nameless blops. How tragic!

Know what amuses me (after a brief bit of irritation)? Someone who says "Well, you obviously haven't read/thought about {fitb}". No, schmucky. I've thought about it...and I think you're wrong.

There's a huge difference between "have put thought into the issue" and "agree with you". I really don't understand why that's so hard for some people to accept. Though, at this point, I'm pretty sure I don't care, either.

Sam's computer mouse is absolutely tiny (and shiny!). I help fix/change/install something on her laptop from time to time, and then go back to using my 'puter and my mouse feels gargantuan. The Mouse That Ate Martinsburg! ;)
