I find this Wikipedia article on the history of Mashups fascinating.

So, the Eloise costume is out. Why? Because the child wouldn't do *one* thing to help make the costume. Honestly, all I asked her to do was find all her Eloise books (well, not Eloise Takes a Bawth, as I didn't think her usual costume would be featured all that much), so I could see her daily outfit from all possible angles, and be able to note all the small details.
She didn't even *try* to find the damn books (and I happen to know one's just sitting in her room, nothing on top of it, not on top of a mountain or guarded by a grumpy lion or *anything*) and threw a fit when I tried to explain why I wanted them. So, I told her that if she wasn't inclined to help me with the costume, I wasn't inclined to put the damn thing together.
Right now, I'm thinking of cutting two holes in a sheet and sending her out as a ghost. But, we've no plain white sheets and I don't actually want to do that. I just want her to stop being a twit. I *like* making/putting together her costumes. And I hope she isn't a twit about the Jane and the Dragon costume. I really hope that losing the chance to be Eloise this year lets her know I'm *serious* about this. It's not like I don't have other things to do, for Ghu's sake.

I *think* I've seen the wooden Periodic table before. But even if this is a repeat, it's totally worth it.

*SQUEEEEEEE* FAO Shwarz has Froud Goblins! Too bleedin' cool! Yup, that's one of 'em in my new icon.

In other news, I think
darthgeek has a very cute nose.
He's battling a cold right now...but I think he's winning. The nice thing is, he can work from home in his chair, in the living room, so he can relax and be comfier than sitting in here.

My mom got Sam a mini American Girls doll (Samantha) as a trial run for the regular sized one for the kid's birthday in March. She opened it on Saturday and it has been her constant companion ever since. Well, except for the time she left the doll with her dad and forgot about her for a few hours. But, hey, this is why small children shouldn't be parents. She came in a roughly 7x3" box, which I am currently turning into a bed for her. Sam finds this the best idea ever. I feel kind of guilty in her praise and happiness, as it's also one of the *easiest* things ever. I made a pillow, am currently working on the mattress and then will make a quilt. It's mostly just seams. I'm doing it by hand, 'cause that's what I've got the craving for right now. If things go well, Mini Samantha (that's the name Sam settled on...I said she should call her "Not Me" but it didn't go over well) should be sleepin' in her bed by Thursday.
I would say that I'll post pictures, but I always forget. I do process them a bit at a time...and then completely forget to post them. I will one day, I'm sure. Just don't know which month that day will be in...
