Congratulations...it's a van! [livejournal.com profile] darthgeek rocked this completely. He even got them to knock a couple thousand dollars off the price. I didn't go, 'cause I was mostly dead, but it sounds *so* perfect. And apparently, everything on the van *works*. How weird is that? *grin*

I'm really jazzed about the captain's chairs in the back. They just seem far more comfortable than the bench seating, and while this could just be my perception, safer, too. I wrote a big long thing on why I think that is, but it got too technical, and it isn't my kind of technical, so I felt very over my head. So, I'm going to leave it at "It *seems* safer" and move on with my life. *Grin*

Now we can take road trips again. We won't have to worry about my motion sickness, as it seems to just go away when I'm in a higher vehicle (unless something else is going on of course), and the van has lots of stretching out room, so one doesn't feel one's knees are around one's ears. :) And we can run errands without worrying if the trunk is big enough for whatever we find. Though, I will say that the red car has a surprising amount of trunk space...still, it'll be nice to not have to pack things around Sammy. *Grin*

Oh, and we're donating the red car to Folk Alley 'cause we find them nifty and it's to big to be a planter. ;) I'm really jazzed that donating it worked out. Hey look! Finally, I'm a supporter like me. ;)

(PBS often says "This program was made possible by viewers/supporters like you"...and I think "What, people who always mean to donate but don't like to donate during the pledge drives, as I don't want to encourage *more* pledge drives, and never remember to actually donate when she has the money? How could they make the program possible? ;)

Oooooooooh. The AV Club interviews Weird Al.

Aww. The sky's been turned off again.

*later* Ohhhh. Is raining. Well, that's a good reason for turning off the sky. It's a nice rain, not sideways or anything. I can still have the windows open. Yay. :)

*later still* It's still raining off and on, but it got terribly muggy. So, we can has air conditioning? *grin*

Wow. This is impressive. John Davis spent eight years and £15,000 building a Boeing 747 flight simulator in a room in his house. And now the 47-year-old's hobby has turned into such a full-time occupations that he has jacked in his job as a graphic designer to run a full-time flight simulation business from his home in Coventry, UK.

I wish him every success. Talk about living one's dream.

The doll bed I'm making for Sam's miniature American Girl Doll (aka Mini-Samantha) is very, very nearly done. There were several mishaps, a few days when I couldn't sew and life getting in the way, but I'm on the very last bit now. I'm quite pleased about the whole thing.

And. I hate rayon thread (for hand sewing) with the fiery passion of a thousand volcanoes. It shreds, it breaks and, all in all, it is not making me happy at all. But, it's the only spool I have in this color (silvery blue), and as I've only one bit left to go, switching now seems silly.

Wow. This came out *really* well. How to change the color of your Ikea scale to match the rest of the bathroom.

It's the Ikea Hacker blog, which is the only reason I mentioned the maker. It'd work on any scale. Well, except those clear glass ones...but even if it would work, those are just neat looking on their own and blend in to any decor.

Of course, all of this is of no use to me, as I have a deep dislike for bathroom scales. Well, for one in my own bathroom. If I'm over at your house and see that you've a scale in your bathroom, I won't throw it out the window or even look askance at it.
