Worth 100 did a contest on Animal Pirates (Photos of animals photoshopped as pirates). It's a *lot* of fun to scroll through. (There are frogs first entry, Mum, so if you decide to look, scroll a bit before you look)

When I was little (my memory says eight, but I might have been six. Apparently, I was an even number), I got a doll that had long brown hair and *glasses* for my birthday. I was truly in heaven. Most of the dolls with brown hair that I'd seen had it cut short, and the only doll I'd seen before that with glasss was Mrs. Beasley...and we didn't really look anything alike.

I honestly think that was the coolest thing to happen to me up to that point.

~~~
I recently renewed our lapsed subscription to Entertainment Weekly. I let it lapse more out of forgetfulness than anything else, but once I realized I wasn't getting it any longer, I took a few weeks to see if I minded. And I found that while I missed the snarkiness and some of the articles, and I definitely missed the book recommendations, the thing I missed the most was Stephen King's column. I kind of...pined for it. Not as one would pine for the fjords, but still, there was a definite scent of pine in the air.
I was very pleased to get the latest copy (11/16) and find Uncle Stevie's column on the back page. It's like they did it just for me. ;)
~~~

John Scalzi went to the Creation Museum. Check out his photographic tour if at all possible.

What can you use the laser cutter for? Pizza, of course.

The word of the day is Flaneur which is one who strolls around aimlessly, a lounger or a loafer.

Hey, that might help when you're playing the rice game. *grin*
