You know the site "Things Younger than John McCain"? There should be another called "Things that happened since Chinese Democracy was supposed to have been released".

Oh, I do love this. Ben Folds recorded a fake album and leaked it.
"I may be on crack, but I think if that was half the real record, it'd be good," he adds. "Everyone I know keeps wanting to put it in and play it. We're all not honest these days about the way we listen to music. It all has to have context. I think some people hate it because they were told it was a joke. In the end people got free songs and we had something to do on July 11."
Must find this now.

I've been thinking about why the rampaging remakes bug me so much. It's partially because the remakes tend to be so very bad. No, not all of them, but the vast majority.
Then there's the "Oh, it's good, but it's not an AMERICAN film! We need to translate it!" thing. Yes, even the movies that were in English in the first place. 'Cause nobody in this country can read subtitles or understand anything at all about other countries and cultures.
But, the main problem is, if there are ten remakes released this year, that means there are ten original movies that didn't get their chance. I know there are eighty-five badillion original scripts out there. I'm not saying they'll all be great...but they'll be different and the majority should be entertaining. Some may even be thought provoking. (They're still allowed to do that with mainstream movies, right?)
This mini-rant brought to you by an Entertainment Weekly blurb about the new version of The Women.
"Though faithful to the original, the new version is less catty" 'It's a story about female friendship' says {Meg} Ryan."
Makes me question two things. Their definition of faithful and if anyone involved in the production read and/or saw the movie they were remaking, let alone reading the play.

Um...okay, these are just creepy. Flip-flops with the heads of either Barrack Obama or John McCain on them. Lots of little heads. Jumbled on there. Because...I guess someone will buy them.
