On Saturday, we went to the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum, which is smaller than expected, but truly packed with activities and *stuff*. It was crowded, but most of the people were good at moving out of the way and keeping the littler kids from being knocked over.
Charlie found a pair of twins that were smaller than her. You could hear "BAYYYYBEEEEE!" from across the museum. She was so thrilled. The parents of the twins thought it was great and the twins tolerated her, even when she gave them hugs and patted their heads. She also tried to help them go upstairs, but I reined her in, letting her know that just 'cause they were younger (they seemed to be about a year old) didn't mean they couldn't do some stuff on their own. She was skeptical, but relented.
Besides stalking babies, she had a great time looking at things and *touuuuuuuuuuuuuuching* everything. She and Sam spent a lot of time playing together, and Sam even respected "Noooooooooooooooo, ME do eeeeet!" most of the time. *grin*
We wandered all over the place...it was great. Sam got to run around and do whatever she wanted, 'cause we didn't have to worry about losing her. She couldn't even tell us what her favorite part was. "All of it!" So, I guess we'll be going back soon. :)
After that, we wandered down the street, which was only open to pedestrians. It was a nice shopping area, very relaxed. There was a small ice cream shop, so we ducked in and then found some bank steps to sit on. That was one of those memories, y'know? The breeze was warm, we were all relaxed and happy to be together, there was no rush to do *anything*. It was perfect.
By that time, my knee had gone on strike, so Jeff went to get the van. Happily, there was parking very close to the steps, which was at the end of the pedestrian promenade, so my knee didn't actually fall off. Win!

Five Styles that defined entire eras (were made up by movies).
Also, the magic of Marlon Brando.

Penguin Books just announced an upcoming series of re-issued classics called "Penguin Threads" with embroidered covers illustrated by Jillian Tamaki.
