The American Dating Council says Connection Club is more effective than online dating, matchmaking firms, speed dating, and singles events.
The American DATING COUNCIL?! Yeah. That's believable.
Though, if there *is* an American Dating Council, can I petition to get my time back on all those crappy dates I went on in the nineties? I *did* get some great stories out of them...so the trade-off was almost worth it.

This weekend didn't exactly go the way I'd planned. I haven't been able to find mailing tubes yet, nor have I seen Mirrormask. It *is* opening in B'more on the tenth (so sayth Jeff...I haven't checked yet, but I don't think he's teasing me. 'Cause I know where he sleeps.;) so I've another chance there.
*BUT* I did get to see the penguin movie! Which I loved, as expected.:) And I've been completely right all these years. Penguins are the niftiest animals out there, just this side of beagles.
~~~
We saw it at the drive-in, along with re-viewings of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and The Corpse Bride. That was seriously nifty. Since I knew what was going to happen, I got to sit back and watch the other things going on in the film. As I said to Jeff, it was a 3 dvd night, 'cause we plan to get all three films as soon as they're released. And on sale. *Grin*
~~~
I also managed to slam my right hand in the car door. I was getting out to help Sammy buckle her car seat, and I stumbled in a small hole. To keep myself from falling, I grabbed onto the passenger side door jamb (that's probably not what it's called in a vehicle, but do I really care?). The jolt to the van from doing that caused the door to swing closed. Dear *Ghods* that hurt. Like the proverbial house on fire. And I think I scared Jeff half to death, 'cause when he came back from throwing away the trash (we got a bucket of chicken. It was finger lickin' good.;), I was sitting on the...step that's directly behind the sliding door in the van, crying. Now, I do *not* cry in public under regular circumstances. Big, *bad* things need to be happening. But, he got me to look at my hand, which I was afraid was going to be a bloody mess, and we realized that I'd gotten off fairly lightly. The middle finger took the brunt of it, with the fingers immediately to the right and left being bruised as well, but the skin wasn't broken nor were any of the bones. I *did* acquire the fastest bruise ever, and things are still sore (and my wrist is a bit unhappier with me than usual), but I can use my hand with no problem. I am *relieved*.
~~~
After everyone was calmed down and we were on our way home, Sammy gave me some very good advice. The next time I'm getting out of the van, and there's a hole, I shouldn't step in it.
Thanks kid. *laugh*
We went to the Goodwill down the street yesterday and Sammy got *lots* of new clothes. I didn't find pants for her, because I didn't notice that there was a wall of just jeans behind me. She isn't quite out of pants that fit though, so we have time to go back.:) She loves dresses (and I need to remember to buy her a multitude of tights soonest, 'cause kiddo doesn't care if her legs are freezy blue, but her mama does) and got some great ones. What is it with the sizing? We bought dresses that were 5, 6, 7/8 and one 10. They all fit her differently, of course, but she only swims in one. And it *isn't* the 10. *confused puppy head tilt*
She also is now the proud owner of two jackets, one for nowish (which will probably start next week, when it cools off to proper US Northeast October Temps) and one for the December-beginning of March stretch. One less thing to worry about.:)
She didn't get the raincoat she wanted, because it fit her perfectly. So, the next time it rains, it won't. (Now if we were still living in "rains 2/3 times a week" Maryland, it would have been a bargain. But it rains roughly every three weeks here, and usually not all day. )
Went to Trader Joe's...I love that place. I mean, even their junk food is mostly healthy. *grin* And they had three pound bags of gala and Fuji apples for cheap. (Apples, one of my veryfavorite foods...and scents.) They didn't have mailing tubes either.;)
Guess that says a lot about my kids, huh?
Have you tried the post office? They used to have mailing tubes (actually triangular things that you folded up) for priority mail for free.
I think Federal Express or similar might have them too.
*grins at the Sammy advice*
We don't have a Goodwill, just Salvation Army, to whom I am not wild about giving my money. But I'll probably end up doing so from time to time, bein' poor. *sigh* I really wish a Goodwill would open up.
Can't wait to see the penguin movie, but it'll probably be a while. :P
Love you.
D'ya think they have instructional pamphlets? I might need some to hand out...
If you get really desperate, you can always grab a couple of big boxes at your local supermarket and make your own poster mailers using the cardboard and packing tape.
That's "fanger lackin good", Missy. . didn't Barry teach you anything all those years ago? 8^D
Bummer about your hand. Hope it is on the mend. Mike said to tell you that Princess Sammy was actually thinking: " Silly Commoner, don't step in pot holes."
Love ya,
Mum
