There's a Barry special on PBS this week. We get three PBS stations...one's running it at nine-thirty tomorrow, one's running it at seven on Saturday and I think one isn't running it at all. This is the blurb from the PBS newsletter (the only place they seem to mention it on the entire site. Gotta love promotion.)

Join superstar Barry Manilow for his hit Las Vegas show, "Music and Passion" -- an exciting, multi-faceted production that features contemporary hi-tech music and effects mixed with the classic entertainment values of Las Vegas legends such as Sinatra, Presley, Davis and Martin.

I'll watch it on Thursday after CSI, and then the whole thing on Saturday. 'Cause Barry may be *in* Vegas, but I don't think he'll solve any crimes during the show. [livejournal.com profile] granniechuckie, he didn't, did he? ;)

I've been grumpy off and on for the past week or so. Trying very hard to not take that out on anyone. Even myself.

Okay, this is nifty. Literature Map. Put in an author and it'll return a bunch of authors it thinks you'll like. I wouldn't be as impressed if one of the authors returned from inputting "Charles De Lint" was Henry Rollins. Yeah, I *love* Rollins...but most people don't map De Lint to Rollins.

It is officially later than I think. I shall post and go to bed. Night all.:)

But really, one could map Rollins from *anyone* else that's cool. 'Cause he's just that righteously cool. :-D

Wow, that is a cool app.

Most of the people I know, who like De Lint, also like Rollins. :)
Okay, I'm off to fn dmore cool authors to read ;)

*hugs you*

Thanks for the link! I predict my to be read pile will grow some more!

OT: Costume stores?

Where would you go to buy costumes in New England or on-line? An Israeli co-worker is looking to buy costumes for her 5 year old and one year old for Purim next week.

And that Literature Map totally rocks EXCEPT that it treats all spellings of an author's name as unique so Laurell K Hamilton and Laurell K. Hamilton are two different individuals. I need to play with the music map of it. It doesn't seem to have the movies loaded yet.

'Cause Barry may be *in* Vegas, but I don't think he'll solve any crimes during the show.

I don't know if he solved the crime - but somebody figured out why the whole sound system crashed at the precise moment Barry was to have walked on stage in a puff a smoke. Or "fart of fog" as he calls it. It only took 20 minutes to solve the mystery. Faster than CSI & no commercials.

I heard thru the grapevine. . .or should that be Barry-vine. . .that M&P has been hacked to bits and doesn't flow like the actual show in Vegas. San Diego PBS is showing it tonight(3/9), shock of shocks - they so rarely air anything the rest of the nation sees, I'll let you know if it looks anything like the original.
