Sammy's doing better today. She's *Eating* which is a huge improvement. She's also not as warm. She's still coughing though. She got good sleep last night. I know this for a fact, 'cause she was in my bed. :) I helped keep her propped up. Which is probably why she got good sleep. *Grin*

I'm having a bad brain day. Sometimes, the words just aren't there. This annoys me more than just about anything else.

Songfacts is a very interesting site. One of those I can wander around in for hours. Oh, there's a *lot* of bullshit there, but some interesting info too. Like Wikipedia. Or life.

Later.

Still don't understand why the coughing always gets worse at night. I know she sick 'cause she's trying to take a nap, and there was no whining in connection with resting. I hate it when she's sick, 'cause I'm the mom. I should be able to fix this. Feh.

It isn't a mother's job to fix everything. It is however, her job to want to. I think you're doing a swell job. :)

Glad she's a bit better and that you're doing alright, as well.

Take care.

Postural drainage....

The coughing is frequently caused by sinus drainage and unswallowed spit which can pool in the throat area when one lies down to sleep. The trachea is extra sensitive to any 'perceived threat' of gloppy stuff entering the lungs, so it over-reacts. Also, we don't swallow as frequently when we're drowsy, though the sinuses keep doing their drainage jobs whether we're upright or not. Aromatics like Vicks-type salve on her chest or eucalyptus oil on a bit of cotton wool near her location ~ if she can bear the smell ~ may soothe the breathery a bit.

"Bummer days, dude, bummer days!", as [livejournal.com profile] jb_dragon used to say. If you've got a comfy recliner chair to tuck her into, that might help; or raising the head end of her bed for a few nights. (Mine has, as times, been up as much as eight inches! Sort of feels like trying to sleep at a 35 to 40 degree angle, and one slides downhill all the time ;-)

Lots of loves to you and the afflicted one!

I sure hope she's feeling better soon. *hugs to pass along*

so what? you think you're special or something? it's either prop the baby up all night OR brainpower. you can't have both, silly!

You're only human. You can't fix everything, just do your best to try.
