Felted Totoros! *fangirl squee*

~~~
I love the idea of commemorative stamps and am happy that people like Cary Grant, Dr. Seuss, Ella Fitzgerald, Jim Henson and Judy Garland have their own stamps. But, I still feel bad about their faces being canceled.
The AV Club reports on the swag it has received. From the ridiculous to the sublime, and back again. The Mr. Bean mask is downright creepy.
I wish I'd had the strength to say goodbye to my Boompa that last day. It wasn't the day he died. That was a few days later. But it was the last time I saw him. And I wish I hadn't clung so tightly to my belief that he wouldn't die. That I could have said "I know this is probably the last time I'll see you. I love you so much. Your presence in my life has given me hope that not all males are assholes." I wish I could have let him know that I was going to be okay. Because, at that point in my life, it wasn't certain. Everyone was worried about me, though that wasn't mentioned very much. I wish I could have reassured him that he'd given me the tools I needed and while it was going to suck, I was going to be fine without him.
I did say I love you. But I didn't give him my truth. I was too blind to do that. And while he knows now, of course, I'll always regret not saying goodbye.
I was going to link to so many different, wonderful articles and essays on Literary Mama, but there's so much there that it's much simpler to just say "Go, look. You'll probably find something you like". So, consider it said.
Romeo & Juliet, Sealed with a Kiss is an animated film based on Shakespeare's play. The lead characters are seals and all the supporting characters are underwater creatures as well. It looks like a sweet movie.
But, the amazing thing is, the creator did it all by hand and all by himself. Well, the animating, at least. He did have other people in to do the voices. Which is probably for the best. Not everyone can be Michael Winslow.
And, like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, it was animated in Flash. Which really made the whole thing possible.
Seeing as my darlin' [livejournal.com profile] darthgeek will be using my computer to work from home in a few hours, I'll post this now, to keep up with my resolution attempt to post at least once every weekday this year.
You needed to cling to that believe, and he would, I'm sure, have understood that.
I don't like regrets. *hugs*
That's pretty much what I was thinking.
And I've learned with the deaths of people close to me that there will be regrets no matter what. None of us are perfect and people leave us at inconvenient times.
*belated fixes "believe" to "belief"*
I suppose it depends on how one defines regret. I don't have regrets about my father. I wish, in that "only if that was the best course of action the universe could have taken" kind of way, that he'd lived longer, but I wouldn't say I have regrets.
Those Totoro's! I'm going to have to get out my needle felting stuff tonight!
[identity profile] dirtynumbangel.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I read that as 'felched totoros'. I have no idea what a totoro is, now whether or not it's into felching, but it was nontheless somewhat disturbing at this early hour.
Regrets like that are so terrible, but as you say he knows now, and I'm sure he understands.
Thanks for the link to literary momma!
Hello there. :-) I saw that you added me, and I checked you out and added you back. I assume you found me through [livejournal.com profile] amenquohi's journal?
At any rate, I notice that you're in West Virginia. Whereabouts is Joyful Manor? Though we live in Nebraska due to military station, my hubby and I are from West Virginia - from Bridgeport (in the Clarksburg area).
Yes I did. :)
We're in Martinsburg. Joyful Manor is our house, where we try to live in a...well, you know. :)
Around here, "swag" is slang for weed. Specifically, economically priced, mid-grade weed. It is spelled the same, but pronouced "shwag". There are many flavors of Swag that one can purchase, according to one's taste and budget. Every time I read or hear of Celeb Swag at awards season, I laugh. I imagine them all getting quarter bags disguised as Be- dazzled I-pods. Tee hee.
