Time magazine has a list of the hundred best English Language Books from 1923 to the present. Opinions? Oh, it's 1923 'cause that's when Time began publishing (wow, and I thought we had time way before then ;).

~~~
Nothing really on my mind right now. My sandals and Sam's turquoise Chucks got here on Monday. The sandals are very comfy and the Chucks will look great with her sundress...they'll also be more durable than the flats I was going to get her, so she can wear them after we get her pictures taken too. :) I'm reading a lot, trying to *not* read the majority of hanging out time with Jeff & Sam and embroidering whenever I get the chance.
~~~

Oh cool. There are voice post numbers for those not in the US now.

~~~
Hmm. Thought I had more. Guess I was wrong.
Oh! That's what it was!
Kind of amazing that the psycho chick figured out that Grissom and Sarah Liiiiiked each other after seeing them together once and the people they *work* with had no idea, though they've been an item since last season's finale.
Also, I really liked the effects/camera work/whatever it was in this ep. It drove me *nuts*, but I liked it. I'm also glad that Sofia did a major double-take after they got psycho chick and she had a chance to really notice the chrysalis (well, that's what it reminded me of) she was working on her miniatures in. 'Cause that was just beyond weird.
Of course, the very creepiest moment of all came from psycho girl's bio-dad aka "The guy from Soap with the dummy". Yeeesh.
All in all, not the best season finale from the show, but not horrible at all. And I'm definitely looking forward to next season.
Of course, I always do. They had me at hello. ;)
Actually, they had me when they stopped moving the camera so much. First ep I ever saw, I had to change the channel 'cause I was nauseated, from the camera work, not the content. A year or so later, came upon it again and could actually watch the whole thing. And thus, an obsession was born. *Grin*
Hope everyone has a nice weekend and isn't rained on too much. (From the weather forecasts I've seen, that may be all we can hope for.)
I get carsick from tweaky/jumpy/ spinny/jerky/mtv camerwork, too. And I LOOOOOOVE CSI. I love that the perp outed Grissom and Sarah. And the guy from soap was creepy as all hell.
Hee. Time before then, indeed!
Interesting in that I've never read the vast majority of them. The ones I HAVE read belong, I think, on any such list.
Yay shoes and international voicepost numbers!
*grin* Well, she IS very observant. Especially of that sort of thing, apparently. And they HAVE been careful.
The whole thing was epic-creepy. I liked the bit with the foster mother about damaged and broken. Sadly, I think it's very true. :\
I feel no stress, which makes me happy, 'cause I'm TOTALLY confident they'll rescue her, y'know? Still, they are buggers. :P
Love you.
1.) Shhhhh! Jorja Fox wants more money...she may not be rescued.
2.) The camera work was designed to make Vegas look like a minature. Did anyone notice?
3.) That song was creepy. And the fantasy sequence with the slashed throat was a HOLY SPIT moment.
Eep! Well, it'd make a great storyline for the rest of the cast if she goes...(I have clearly gotten jaded. :P)
Oh, now I'd have to watch it again to see!
OMG yes. They did that scene perfectly, too.
I can give Tom the episode like I did previously, if you're interested...
Shhhh...I don't care that much. ;) Maybe I'll see it in reruns. (But probably not. Shh. ;P)
I thought there was a mini-Vegas and then it morphed to a real shot.
It's "Survivalism" from the new Nine Inch Nails album "Year Zero"
No, the creepy song was "I've got a pain in my sawdust."
*shudder*
[identity profile] darthgeek.livejournal.com 2007-05-18 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that one. That was fucking creepy, as was the doll telling the story about how the little girl died.
Opinions on the list - way more books by men than books by women, because men write the best stuff.
I knew without even looking that would be the case. Although maybe it's because women didn't start writing until the 1960s?
er.
"maybe it's because women didn't start writing until the 1960s"
Please tell me you're trying to be funny.
[identity profile] lotusbeans.livejournal.com 2007-05-18 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry about that. I was being sarcastic.
I get so sick of all the essential writing and best writing and must read lists including way more men than women... and the idea that men write the important stuff and what women write is less important or meant only for women.
*cackles* I was watching it with my parents, and I was the only one who got Catherine's reference to David Lynch. Agreed, that ventriloquist was creeeeeeepy.
Yes, we did, but it wasn't publishing. You want to hear somebody grump, ask time about its collection of rejection slips.
time has a collection of rejection slips? I just thought it sort of went marching on.
Now Time probably has millions of the things.
citation is everything.
