Okay...it's the second week in September. And you're setting off fireworks. Really?
Dorks.
I was thinking about calling someone...mainly 'cause they've been doing this off and on for weeks, often *very* late at night/early mornings, and if they wake the child, I would have to find them and whap them about. But, while I can hear the pops loudly and clearly, I can't see the fireworks, so I know they're in the area, but not *where*.

When they say Little Lamp, they're not kidding.
The base of the lamp is produced by the D-Cell battery (kindly supplied!) and the shade and LED clip onto the battery to complete the item. The battery can generate up to 150 hours of light and the LED bulb should last for many years.
Thinkgeek has some of the best stuff.

Cockatiels singing the Imperial March from Empire Strikes Back
I love this *so* much. It reminds me of my Cockatiel, Ima, who could sing the Good Morning America song and the whistling bit from Can't Smile Without You.

The McCain campaign lies about FactCheck.org.
A McCain-Palin ad has FactCheck.org calling Obama's attacks on Palin "absolutely false" and "misleading." That's what we said, but it wasn't about Obama.
Our article criticized anonymous e-mail falsehoods and bogus claims about Palin posted around the Internet. We have no evidence that any of the claims we found to be false came from the Obama campaign.
Is that a smart thing to do? It isn't like they're not going to *see* the ad. Watching the ads is part of their *job*. And they're going to notice if the ad says something about *them* that's wrong.
Just...oy.

Robert Heinlein's Fan Form-letter response.
The only fan letter I can remember writing (and mailing) didn't get answered, but I didn't expect it to. It was essentially a thank-you note. But it would have been remarkably cool to get something like this. I object to the idea that it's bizarre though...like he says at the beginning, it was a choice between writing replies and writing books. Sounds logical to me.

Google's going to digitize newspaper archives. This should be interesting.

Woo-HOO! The Christmas Toy is being released on DVD. Yaaaaaayyyyyyy.
