I probably should have mentioned that I'm Myschyf at Dreamwidth. If you read it there, feel free to comment there. :)

Roger Ebert has written a rice cooker cookbook. Very interesting.

Once I have the book, all I need is a rice cooker. I had one that I loved, but it died and it was more of a general steamer. Then I had one that spit all over the place, which was rawther inconvenient. But, one day, I'll have one that isn't dead or spitty. Or I'll finally learn to make good rice in a pot on the stove *every* time rather that the good rice being a surprise.

LJ says: "We understand and appreciate your privacy concerns. For this reason, we'll be modifying the comment cross-posting portion of the Facebook and Twitter Connect feature so only comments on public entries (those marked 'Everyone') can be cross-posted. Once we implement this change, it will no longer be possible to cross-post screened comments or comments left on Friends Only entries. "

So, that's good.

They shouldn't have originally implemented this without limiting it to unlocked entries, I'd still like the ability to turn it off completely if I wish *AND* the massive communication issues still stand.

But yeah. Good.

Autumn seems to have arrived. I approve. *grin*

Otter is very pleased to see you.

Today is Jeff and my twelfth relationship anniversary/eleventh wedding anniversary. If I listed all the ways he makes my life better, makes me happy and how very good he is for me, I just might fill up the internets.

I have several regrets in my life...moving three thousand miles to be with [personal profile] darthgeek has never and will never be one of them.

Happy anniversary, love.

:D Somehow Tiana looks the most kickass. Oh, or maybe Mulan. I CANNOT CHOOSE BETWEEN MY FAVES.

The trick I picked up? Make it like Rice-a-Roni. Couple-three tablespoons of butter/margarine/oil in the bottom of the pan, sautee the rice first until most of it has puffed slightly, THEN add the water and boil.

It's good to know that somebody can cook Rice-a-Roni successfully. All I ever got out of it was a lot of burnt rice stuck to the pan.

A lot of my dinners at home are Bachelor Chow consisting of a box of 'Roni, a cup or so of frozen veg, and some protein source (usually chicken). I like only having one pot to clean afterwards. I will confess to occasionally having forgotten the important step of reducing the heat after all of the additional ingredients have been added, in which case, yeah, charcoal.

[identity profile] dornbeast.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I got the charcoal before the additional ingredients - or else I got crunchy rice. I don't know; something about the San Francisco Treat defeats me.

Happy Anniversary. I love to read about people who are happily partnered-- it gives me hope.
Also, that otter doesn't look so much happy to see me as he seems more like he would be happy to eat my face.

btw, I'm on DW, too. Same username.

i get good rice, no idea how i do it, but i think it's my pans. i have no room for a steamer, so i use either oil or butter with it, and watch it. carefully. never have burned rice, but i learned how to make it when i was young.

i love that video. and i love who it was!!! that was so sweet!

and happy anniversary! yay!

Happy anniversary to you both! <3

That seemingly random friending on DW? That's me. =)

The Disney Superheroes are surpringly less scantily-clad than I anticipated. I could almost get behind this.

Happy Anniversary. =)
