How can Amazon *not* have Bullfinch's Mythology?!
I'm taking some online courses and one of them is using Bullfinch's Mythology as a text...I know its available as an E-book, but I'd much rather have a dead tree version, as it makes underlining and reading in bed easier.(separately and together) So, I decided to check Amazon, to get a rough idea of price...and they don't* have it...oh, they've got it in the "Shops", but that reeeeely won't give me an idea of what a brick and mortar store would charge me. Oh, they've got a couple books *by* Thomas Bullfinch, but not the most famous. Logic...that's what makes a business profitable.;)
Sam went to *sleep*...she wouldn't go to sleep on Jeff (who fell asleep in the chair) and doesn't sleep in the bed alone unless she's already asleep, so I put her in the swing, with only a minimal fuss and asked if she wanted me to sing...she nodded, so I did...and she went right to sleep. She has *never* done that before. I hope its a harbinger of things to come.:)
Going to the Takoma Park Folk Festival later today and quite looking forward to it. Might even get to meet some of the HipMamas...I know at least two are going to be there. I gave a good description of myself for people who were too shy/unable to make plans but though they might be there...basically Shortish, with shoulder length purple hair, dressed in black, toting a copper haired child in a black and musical note sling and a large backpack, in the company of a very tall guy with long blonde hair. If they can't find me with *That* description, I don't think they ever will. *Grin*
The hair is *amazing*...dark purple indoors and iridescent violet outside. This has to be the best job I've ever done. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow.
Got both the guv'mint check and the check from Allstate (re:the accident Jeff was in, for pain and suffering)...now I'll be able to get him some truly nifty stuff for our Anniversary. (Though, I'm going to, 'cause I think he'll get a big kick out of that, and as well. (Hey, I *know* he reads this...we talk about it after sometimes...I may be nuts, but I'm not stupid. And now, he'll be nuts, wondering. ;)
I got the niftiest wooden candle sconces at Goodwill today...a buck each and raw wood, so I can paint them with no worries. We also got Sammy a (four wheeled) scooter...from Playschool or...someone. She doesn't like riding it forward (I think the handles bother her), so she sits backwards, leaning against the handles and scoots around. Smart kid, her. :)
I scored a black layered skirt and a gorgeous blue sweater shot through with silver...I'd looked at the sweater twice before, and I figured that something that was at Goodwill three times in a row, I should get. If I liked it of course...the sweatshirt with the huge cabbage roses outlined in puffy paint can stay there as lonnnnnnng as it likes.
Oh yeah...and a sewing machine...for *thirty* bucks...its set into a table that has a bunch of drawers, and seems to have been hardly used...and it has *everything* it came with (afaict), including the manual. We're waiting till we get the T-bird back, 'cause Jeff doesn't think it'll fit in the rental car and I usually overestimate on things like that. I'm just *so* jazzed about the whole thing...I've been planning to get a sewing machine for ages...Yay. :)
