We went out last night...I finally bought Jeff's anniversary present, and we declared *this* our anniversary weekend, 'cause last weekend was horribibble. He was *completely* blown away...especially since he'd asked me what I was getting him a few days before, and tried to guess...came up with "A Palm Pilot?" I said that under *no* circumstances was he getting a palm pilot.
Which is true...I bought him a Casio PDA instead. *Grin*
We also went to Target, where we spent twenty minutes in the baby department, looking for overalls (Sammygirl has outgrown all but one pair of overalls, and as they've become something of a mainstay in her wardrobe, replacement was kind of important)...we looked *all* over the place, and couldn't find a single pair. So, we went to the shoe dept to get her a new pair of sneakers (the kid grew two inches in the past month...I think she only has three pair of shoes that fit, atm...including the ones we bought last night.)...and I remembered she needed socks, so back to the baby dept I went...and what to my wondering eyes should appear? A pair of overalls, on a bottom rack, in her size, in normal denim w/o anything weird on 'em or anything. I think the baby-clothes fairy left 'em there.;)
We went to Barnes and Nobel, where I found two of the books Musyc recommended, and bought another Charles DeLint novel (I know, its quite possibly one I already own...but it seems rawther good so far...Trader, about two people who trade bodies...without wanting or meaning to...ok, I only read five pages in the store...so I should say that so *far* it seems that they did it without wanting or meaning to.:) I'm looking forward to starting "To Shield The Queen" *and* "Practical Demonkeeping"...I'm jazzed.:) Also got the new issue of Girlfriends, with Lili Taylor on the cover (droool). *bounce*
We finished up by getting some stuff at the market...and I bought a purple gel pen with a purple feather flower on top. Its exceedingly silly and makes me happy. Its also *very* good for tickling Sammy. *grin*
Oh! And I bought myself an African Violet with flowers just about the current color of my hair. I think I'll be able to keep it alive. If so, I'll buy myself another...and some ivy...and, when its warm again, an aloe vera plant and more herbs. But, let's see if I can get this to grow first.:)
I got the new Tori album, Strange Little Girls, as well. I knew she had a new one out, and I was toying with the idea of getting it...then I read the review in Ms...they really liked it, but said that her rendition of the Eminem (yes, you read that right, and no, its not a misprint:) song "Bonnie and Clyde '97" was haunting and heartbreaking. (That's the song he wrote about killing his wife (or ex-wife...I don't know which.) and telling his baby daughter about it while he disposed of the body.(Oh...it was a fantasy, but, that doesn't change the fuckedupedness of the song. Plus the fact that he had his kid doing vocals (gurgles and giggles, iirc) on the track.)
Sweet ghods...first the way she did it (very bare, her voice was very low and she was accompanied by a lone piano)...and second, it is *literally* the *MOST* fucked up song I've ever heard. (And y'all *know* I'm not a retiring flower, especially when it comes to music. This is truly saying something.) I didn't like Eminem before...I like him a *whole* lot less now. I felt like someone had their hand around my heart while I was listening...I don't think Jeff or I said a word till it was done.
This is why Tori kicks ass. She can pull of something like this...I'm not sure too many other artist could.
But I don't wanna listen to that song again. At least, not in the near future.
What else? Well, I'm awake at this silly hour on a Saturday 'cause I've got a headache and laying down won't help. So, I stay up and stare at a computer screen...logic is *so* not my strong point. I *am* wearing my glasses though. ;)
I can't decide if I should go sleep now, and risk sleeping all day, have a short nap in the chair, so I'll be woken up when Jeff and Sam get up or just stay up. But I've narrowed it down to those three choices...;)
