Peanut Butter Slices?

As I mentioned in my last entry, I'm watching a show on the food network called Unwrapped. It's one of those programs that shows how things are manufactured, in this case, food.

They just finished a segment on Peanut Butter Slices. The geek in me is going "Oooh! That is *so* cool! I could keep these in the car and have impromptu picnics anytime by just picking up a loaf of bread!" and so on. The rest of me is going "Yeah, making a peanut butter sandwich is *so* difficult. I don't know how I've been managing it all these years. And, if I'm in the market getting the bread for the sandwiches, why don't I get stuff to put *between* the bread as well? Hmm?"

Yeah, the rest of me *is* reallyreally sarcastic. This comes as a surprise?

The interesting thing is, the slices are *just* peanut butter. I was very surprised...I figured this was the processed cheese food of peanut butter. (Cheese food: what cheese eats to grow up big and strong.) Turns out that, nope, Goober Grape still holds that title.

For those of you *not* in the know, Goober Grape is peanut butter & grape jelly swirled together in the same jar. I had it when I was a kid and *loved* the stuff. Jeff had always wanted it, but his mom never bought it for him, so we got it one grocery trip. And it was *awful*. It was that highly processed peanut butter that has so much other stuff in it that one can barely taste the peanuts.

Ew.
