Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] murnkay! (I'm using the "I haven't slept, it's still Tuesday" rule) I hope this year brings you acres of wonderfulness.

So, I'm watching King Of The Hill, and one of the story lines involves a pack of emu. Everyone on the show is saying e-moo, but I've always thought it was e-myoo.

And since this is *such* an important issue, I decided to make a poll. *Grin*

The movie industry is blaming text messaging for the Summer Blockbusters flopping, saying that people being able to quickly let others know how completely awful a movie is *isn't* good for their ad campaigns, because those are designed to lure people in for the first big weekend and if they know that the movie sucks, they can't be bilked out of their nine bucks as efficiently.

Of course, if the movies were *better*, the text messaging would have brought more sales and the bigwigs would probably be thinking about giving out pagers w/texting ability with the tickets. But they probably don't want to be reminded of that. (The same way I don't want to be reminded of the hours I spent watching The Hulk and SWAT.)

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] takeflight! It's been a hell of a year for you, and I hope the coming year brings even better things. I'm proud of you, for the strides you made, are very glad you're my friend and think of you often.

A talking plush Gollum doll is going to be hitting the market in October.

It's quite a good likeness, but not exactly what comes to mind when I think "plush". Nifty though. (And, I'm almost positive that the head is molded plastic...if it was fabric, it'd cost a *lot* more.)
