I adore Dexter, the series on Showtime about the guy who's a blood spatter expert by day and serial killer by night. The opening sequence is the creepiest thing about the show. This is not to say the show doesn't have it's creepy moments...the opening just has *that much* creep factor. And it's just him getting up, making food (he's no Jeffrey Dahmer either) and getting dressed to go to work. Masterful. (And has made me certain that I'll never juice a blood orange. I know it's just fruit, and I love the juice but...ew.)

Thing is, there are two books out about Dexter. The first, Darkly Dreaming Dexter, is the basis for the series. The second is a sequel. (Actually, I'm not positive the second is out yet) and I want to read them, very much. Because I'm very interested in the character.

But, I can't read them, because if I do, then I'll either be nitpicking the series or I'll know that Dexter is killed/caught/whatever. Sure, they're two universes and the first book is only what the series is based on, not everything the series is. But it'll make me crazy. Just like the first time I watched the Wizard of Oz after reading the book. Only, this time, with serial killers. *Grin*

Jeff bought me a sewing machine for my birthday! (Yes, I knew. He asked me to pick out the one I wanted. But knowing and having it in a box behind me are two different things. *Grin*) I'm uber-thrilled. Of course, the non-Sammy crafty things I'd planned for the next two weeks were all heavy on the hand sewing, but I have no problem adjusting the schedule. :) *does the sewing machine dance of happiness* That's the one where you put your presser foot in, you take your presser foot out and...you know the rest.

This is the machine I have. If that link doesn't work for some reason, go to Overstock.com and put "Brother XL 35OOT Sewing Machine" into the search field.

Currently reading Wintersmith. I love the Tiffany Aching series, and this is the best of the lot (so far). I'm not even done with it and I can't wait for the next one.

Jeff found me a screener of The Queen because I'm not going to be able to see it before it leaves theaters. We watched it on Sunday. Oh dear ghods it's good. Helen Mirren *is* Queen Elizabeth. If she doesn't get an Oscar, then *nobody* should ever get an Oscar again. I'm buying the dvd the instant it is released.

There were a couple of times that I forgot it wasn't the Queen I was watching. I honestly had to remind myself that this was a movie. So completely good. Even if the guy they had playing whineypants Prince Charlie didn't look a bit like him. He sounded like him. I swear, I expected him to stamp his foot a couple times.

*Seeeeekrit message to my mom. If you want me to send it to you, I will. And I'll totally buy you the dvd for your birthday too.*

Ah, Winamp has a sense of humor. First, it plays Tango Maureen (which is about an unfaithful lover) and then Poison Girl.

~~~
Will continue answering questions and such when I get up again.
Sometimes, it seems I'm always going to bed. So how come I'm not better rested?
