Woo-hoo! The Orson Welles version of Jane Eyre is coming out on dvd at the end of the month. I've only been bitching that it needed to be on dvd for five years now. Go go gadget bitching! ;)

Oh for hell's sake! They're remaking Adventures in Babysitting. Yeah, *that's* necessary. *Feh*.

I already knew about Escape From New York. Think that's stupid too. Why don't they remake *bad* movies or (and I know it's a weird idea) make *NEW* films instead of "updated" versions of old films. There are still people writing scripts/books/etc. It isn't as if the material isn't there.

I hear they're still trying to remake The Women. Ugh. I don't understand why someone would want to remake a near perfect movie. Isn't that setting one's sights a bit too high? And then there's the main problem. If they decided to update it, it won't work. There won't be sympathy for any of the characters, they'll just be boring society women...the closest we have to that are people like Paris Hilton. If they decide *not* to update it, then there's no point at all. The original is just too good.

Feh on 'em all.

~~~
I know, I talk about this so often that I should put all my movie moans in one back-dated entry and when I hear something that makes me want to scream, put the new names and titles with a link to the entry saying "They're at it again". *grin*
~~~

I worry so much sometimes. I know that one day, the big, bad world is going to break my daughter. I know it will make her cry and make her rage. And I know that my job is not to keep it from hurting her. My job is to make sure she can deal with it. And to make sure she knows it's okay to fight back. And to make sure that she won't stay broken.

But knowing it will hurt her...that kills me. Because, in the long run, there isn't a damn thing I can do about it. And I have to tell her that it'll hurt her, to prepare her. Which means I have to break the bubble of the beautiful world where people are always nice to one another and bullies get what's coming to them. I know I don't have to do it all at once, and I've already started, especially when she told me that everyone who smiles at her is nice. I hated telling her that wasn't true, but there are few things that have struck fear that deeply in my heart than her innocent words. She's a trusting little thing...she always has been. And now I have to teach her when to *not* trust.

No, nothing has happened lately. It's just something that's been on my mind.

Why do people (of any political stripe) believe things like this?

Here is DeLay's accusation, on Pages 108 and 109:

What sent me over the top about Clinton is that his brand of liberalism had an almost anti-American feel to it. Because it received scant treatment in the press many Americans don't know that when the Clintons first moved into the White House, they seriously considered banning all military uniforms from White House grounds. From the generals briefing the president to the Marines guarding the front door, no one would have been allowed to wear a military uniform. Fortunately, someone talked the Clintons out of this treachery, but take a moment to think about what even considering such a thing says about them. This was the president of the United States and his wife saying that something about military uniforms offended them. Apparently the noble symbols of martial honor and sacrifice so disturbed their unpatriotic, liberal sensibilities that they wanted to forbid them in the home of the nation's commander in chief. We should have kicked them out of office right then and there!

One thing everyone seems to agree on about the Clintons is that they're very smart. So, why would someone just blindly accept that two very smart people would try to ban all military uniforms from the White House? Even if they *had* thought of doing something like that (and nothing I know about them tells me the thought would cross their minds), they'd know how much of a political shit storm it would cause. Because they're not idiots.

They were also involved in politics before he was elected president...they probably saw uniforms every blessed day of their lives...would the reaction upon entering the White House be "Ha-ha! Now we never have to look at those old uniforms again!"? Seriously? Who comes up with this bullshit?

If I hadn't become a big ol' computer geek, I'd probably never have polished nails.

When I'm watching tv, I'm often doing something else with my hands, and that was the only place I'd ever do my nails, 'cause of the table right next to whichever chair I was sitting in. But, when I paint my nails at the computer, I can type and move the mouse about with little problem. My nails never get terribly long, and the typing probably dries them quicker. *grin*

I'm making Jeff hot dogs & sauerkraut tomorrow. 'Cause I love him. And I promised I'd make 'em for him when we had a kitchen with enough ventilation that I wouldn't faint from the fumes. *grin* And then I forgot for a good long time...which is why I'm doing this now and not back when we moved in. I figure, he hasn't said anything about my love of tomatoes on my hot dogs, I can live with him eating his with evil sauerkraut.

And they said a mixed marriage wouldn't work!

Sammy has huge love for Bif Naked and has decided she wants to write her a fan letter. (In Sam's words "It is not a fan letter, it is a letter because I like her!") Finding an address for her has proven difficult. She has a myspace, but IR *Hate* myspace. If I joined, we could send her a message, but it's totally against my religion. So, I poked around a bit and came up with her new label, wrote to them and asked where the kid should send the letter. IR no have to join stupid myspace. IR smarter that Weasel!
