Wild! The American Nickel didn't always mean five cents.

I didn't mean to cut her hair that short. I swear.

Sam's hair was about mid-back, and she was having trouble getting shampoo out in the shower and keeping it free of snarls. I proposed that I cut it to about shoulder length, which would make things easier for her, and by the time it was long again, she'd have the whole hair-care thing *down*. She thought about it and agreed that this was a good idea.

So, today we did it. But I cut one side higher than the other and the short version is, she's got a bit longer than chin-length bob. I felt*so* bad, 'cause I didn't want her to think I'd tricked her or anything.

She went upstairs to wash out the little hairs and while up there she decided that she loves the cut and wants to keep it like this. And she says that she knows it was a mistake and that I didn't mean to.

I suppose I can consider this a good illustration of "All's well that ends well".

Sammy now has two new pair of shoes, Spiderman sandals that light up and really cool sneakers. These should last a while. We weren't planning on going to k'mart Sunday night, but then I was helping Sam with her sandal and noticed that it was pretty thrashed. As she wears them every single day (and twice on Tuesdays!), new ones were imperative. The Spidey ones are rugged and should be good till the end of summer. She also went up a size, and I do need to get her feet measured in one of those metal things soon. 'Cause they had the paper kind there, and it says she should be wearing elevens...which was her size when she was...five, I think. I'm not sayin' they're wrong, I just strongly question their rightness.;)

Since we were there, we got the non-contour rug for the bathroom and I finally picked up hair color. Yay! The only thing that really bothers me about my vitiligo (except for spelling it differently each time) is having salt & pepper hair at thirty-six. Most days it doesn't bug me, but other times, it *really* gets me down. Thus, hair dye and happiness.

Oh, *squeee*. Via [livejournal.com profile] phinnia, Knitted cork gnomes. No, the cork itself isn't knitted. There's a picture, go look.:)

Free track from David Byrne & Brian Eno. It's the standard "give 'em your e-mail address and they'll send you a link". I couldn't get it to work in Firefox, but that could just be me. It did just fine in Ieeeeeee. I do love the IE Tab extension.

Yesterday was not the best for Sam's belongings. First, she found her unicorn music box was broken, and brought it to me for gluing. As I was retrieving the glue from a bottom drawer, I hit the table and the unicorn went flying. Instead of being in three big pieces, it was in about five not-so-big pieces. But, on the good side, the unicorn itself is just fine. So, I'm currently putting it back together.

Then, she found that the doll she'd been given by the lady next door had doll pattern baldness. It just came out...broken at the scalp. I finally figured it out. The doll must have been sitting in direct sunlight for quite a while. She's currently sitting in Sam's toy closet, on one of the high shelves, and we're going to find a new wig for her, which should solve the problem nicely.

The good thing was, she didn't melt down about either problem. I was so pleased.

Dear Nature,

Ha-ha, very funny. I totally get the irony. As soon as I get outside and start the mower, it begins to rain. Definitely giggle-worthy.

I wonder if I could request clear weather for tomorrow or Thursday? You can totally stick with the nice, cool temp though.

Love,

Gessi

I went out to try again, 'cause it had stopped raining.

It started again before I even got down the back porch steps.

Apparently, I am not to mow today. I think I get that now. *grin*
