(no subject)

Charlie has been taking great notice of her feet lately. After her bath on Tuesday, I put her in footie pajamas, and felt almost guilty. The jammies had puppy faces on the toes though, so she still had fun.

Instead of a bouncy seat, we got her a convertible rocking chair...it can recline a bit when she falls asleep and when she's older, it can be converted into a toddler rocking chair. I'm not completely sure what the difference is, but I have the instructions in the big drawer in the entertainment center, so we should be able to find it when we need it. She loves the chair, especially now that she's figured out how to make it rock on her own...sometimes, she sticks one of her feet out and starts moving it before I've even lowered her completely into the chair. It's also currently the only place she'll sleep downstairs besides on me or Jeff. Not that Jeff or I mind holding her, but there are times when he's not here or is asleep that I really need to be able to type with both hands, go pee or take something out of the oven. So, yay for the rocking chair. :)

Sammy's still remarkably good with her, and loves to hold her and carry her around. They have such a lovely bond.

I'm always going to be bummed about not being able to breastfeed her (incredibly long story short, my milk went away and relactating just didn't work...at all). I think I'm as at peace as I'm going to get, but it doesn't bother me constantly or anything. It's just that, I was so *good* at breastfeeding Sam...we went three years, for Ghu's sake. She self-weaned just as I was ready to stoooooooooooppppppppppp already. But, Charlie and I have a wonderful relationship and couldn't be closer if she was literally attached to me. So, it works out to a small sigh from time to time. That's okay.

Coolest wrench ever? Certainly in the top three.

While we're on the subject of things at thinkgeek, look! You can have your very own Dread Pirate Roberts. Though, I'm holding out for Inigo and Fezzik. Collect them all!

CSI for Birds: Scientists Use Forensic Techniques to Improve Airport Safety. Also, isn't the image of the Amazon Royal Flycatcher amazing?

[livejournal.com profile] jenny_evergreen, now when I think of birds, I also think of you. :)

Oooh, way cool! Randall Munroe is publishing an XKCD book.

Jeff got an amazing review at work (it didn't surprise me, 'cause I know how hard he works and how good he is at his personal geekery, but it's still marvelous) and a bonus as well. We took part of that and replaced our dying tv with the one we've been thinking about for two years or so.

And now, I notice commercials more, 'cause instead of turning to "the quiet channel" (ie a channel for a pay-per-view movie that is already showing the movie, thus just blackness), we can use mute again. And it's either 42" or 47" (I think 42, but Jeff's not sure and I haven't found my tape measure. We bought it without a box (but with all the accessories) 'cause they knocked a hundred dollars off. Like I was gonna keep the box. I'd rather have the money) so I don't remember seeing a number) so the small print at the bottom? Not so small anymore. Which is why I know that most of the people shilling for Nutrasystem programs lost their weight on *other* Nutrasystem programs and that their results aren't typical (apparently, there's no such thing as a typical result in anything relating to diet or exercise *ever*). That the "Have you been exposed to/taken {thing}? We'll be your lawyers!" commercials aren't exactly legal in every state. That they *never* mention how much the Orrick vacumes are anywhere in the commercials And that I need a new hobby.

Whoa. Snow Rollers. Akin to tumbleweeds, but colder. *grin*

The fully functional (but not anatomically correct) NES purse. It's too small for my stuff, but I really kind of really want it.

[livejournal.com profile] butterpat, thank you so much for Charlie's present! The jacket is adorable and looks so comfy. It's just wonderful.:)

Happy Earth Day.

Oh yay! It's sized for a year - I hope she gets some wear out of it.

Your icon is fantastic!

Oh, honey, you know I love the boob feeding but HOLY MOLEY - it was so, so, so hard for me to get paloma on it when she was in the NICU for 3 weeks - it was almost another whole month once she came home - and I had another baby at home + a 2 year old to keep up my supply!! I can't even imagine putting the effort into it that you did, and you DO have a bond with her, and you were THERE for her when she wasn't at home with you and she is big and juicy and healthy and brilliant. Don't sweat it! Don't!!!

Hee! I have TOTALLY the same guilt with Finn. In fact, I've been waiting with bated breath for summer just so he can have unlimited access to his feet. :P

We have that chair! It was a total flop here. Technically, it's not supposed to be a rocker till they are big enough to get in and out of it themselves (which is STUPID)...otherwise, the "conversion" consists of getting rid of the harness and taking off the toy arch if you haven't already. I hope you have more luck that we did!

It's like we're inverse twins! I had to bottle feed Will and got to breastfeed Finn. In the end, what really matters is loving them. Also, I (or Tom) ALWAYS fed Will, never left him with the bottle to feed himself, and I think that makes a difference, too. Feeding is bonding, whether it comes from the boob or a bottle. And, on the bright side, Daddy gets more chances to feed when a bottle is involved, and they get more bonding time. I've noticed the difference with Finn and Tom. (I try to make up for it in other ways, but...)

Cooool wrench.

Me, too. They really have taken over my life! *laugh* Good thing I don't mind!

YAY for the bonus!!!! That's really awesome in this economy.

*giggle*

Love you.

I was going to comment, but your icon slew me. Oh, your beautiful girls!

nursing rulz...especially that lovely HIGH that happens to mama! i'd be devastated, too. i am not a huggy feely mom, and nursing made me sit my ass down and hold baby. but, besides the grizzly baby puke, them bottle fed babies do great! hook her up with some nakey mama nakey baby bottle feeding and play pretend, maybe that'll feel almost as good!
